A twenty-minute drive over the headland from Gairloch takes you to the little village of Poolewe on the sheltered south side of Loch Ewe where the River Ewe rushes down from Loch Maree.

Across the bay from Poolewe are the famous Inverewe Gardens, designed and planted by Osgood Mackenzie. Carry on along the coast for another 5 miles and you will come to the small village of Aultbea and then onto Mellon Charles at the head of the loch.

From Shore Croft there are views to the Torridon mountains and out to the open sea, where on a clear day you can see the outer Hebrides. Shore Croft and the small bungalow next door share the pebbly beach, and are on the furthest edge of the settlement.
